WHAT?

Grout Renue ‘N’ Seal TM is a high-quality, epoxy-modified, single-part formula designed to renew, re-colour and seal existing grout. Renue ‘N’ Seal TM utilizes the latest rapid seal STCTM technology to provide maximum stain resistance in 24 hours. It is non-flammable, non-toxic and easy to use.

Grout Renue ‘N’ Seal TM allows moisture vapour transmission (MVT) this means that whilst it seals grout effectively against staining it does not trap moisture vapour, instead it is breathable, allowing moisture vapour to evaporate out of grout joints. It can last up to 15 or more years in certain conditions.

WHY?

Grout joints are a necessary evil with almost all tiling installations. There are two main reasons why we have them:

  1. Tiles nearly always vary within allowable tolerances for size, shape, flatness and ‘squareness’. These variances are minor (mms or less) but they can make it hard to lay the tiles neatly in straight lines etc. A joint of 2 to 3 mm in typical cases (can be more) will solve this issue and allow room to accommodate these small differences.
  2. To ‘but-joint’ or fix tiles with their edges tightly touching each other, is Impractical for another reason; there is absolutely no allowance for any kind of movement due to either thermal expansion of the tiles, shrinkage in the background, or both. So the joint forms a rudimentary movement or expansion joint

Clearly the joints have to be filled with something otherwise they would just become perennial dirt-traps. So grouts are used to fill the joints. The porous and granular nature of most grout makes it more compressible than the tile itself, albeit only slightly, as a result it can be enough to cope with minor movement.

However grout joints are typically:

  • Recessed; slightly lower than the tile surface making it easy for dust and dirt to sit in the joint.
  • Textured; many grouts are ‘sanded’ meaning they have an aggregate (usually fine silica sand) to grout strength and stability but this can ‘grab’ dirt
  • Porous; many grouts (with the exception of epoxy grouts) have some degree of porosity and can absorb water (and anything dissolved within it) as well as other liquids such as oils.

Consequently grout joints can quickly become stained, grubby and hard to keep clean. This can have a degrading effect on the look of the tiles, making the whole floor, or entire sections of walls (like in shower cubicles) look old, and unclean. Even brand new grout can have issues, with shading problems, incorrect colour and efflorescence issues.

Grout Renue ‘N’ Seal TM can help to solve all of these problems:

USES

  • Fix colour issues – Sometimes new grout is not the colour that was anticipated, or the wrong colour was chosen (that white grout you chose for your floor tiles not working out to be very practical? – change it to a more suitable colour and seal it in the process)
  • Eliminate patchy grout – cover the existing grout with a uniform, consistent colour
  • Rejuvenate old grout – make old, dirty grout look like new again and revitalize the look of the entire floor or wall
  • Just change the colour – give you tiling a fresh look with a new colour
  • Seal the grout – treating the grout with Grout Renue ‘N’ Seal TM will provide the best seal available for grouting, helping to keep future contaminants from staining and aiding ongoing cleaning

WHERE

  • Walls and floors
  • Inside or out
  • Use on standard, sanded or unsanded, cement-based grout
  • Use on polymer-modified grout
  • Use on Epoxy grout – yes, it will even bond to epoxy grout
